I don't know about you but I prefer giving and getting unique gifts for the holidays. It's often cheaper and infinitely more fun to shop thrift stores, flea markets, and independent stores that carry gently used and vintage items than it is to fight the crowds and roll the dice on what may or may not be great deals at major stores. You may even find something you love at such a good price you'd be a fool not to give yourself a little gift, too.
This outfit is a good example of a mix of new, thrifted, and vintage pieces. When the weather turns cold I tend to rely on jackets more than knitwear because it's very difficult for me to find decent sweaters that fit my Petite frame. This one by Baccini is new but was very affordable and actually fits me. I seem to be living in the Shi ruffle socks - this time in grey - and Blowfish wedges that are as comfortable as they are stylish. A thrift store run yielded the B L E U long-sleeved tee and Liz Claiborne skirt.
No doubt you will have noticed in the last photo I acquired a few accessories. I have the Nashville Flea Market to thank for that. It's a huge venue held once a month for all sorts of vendors including the drop-dead-gorgeous Lindsay Timberlake of Thriftophile. Her expertly curated collection of vintage clothes and accessories has graced the Rabbit Barn building for several months now. Among her treasures this amazing fox fur collar was calling my name. Thriftophile will launch it's website early next year. In the meantime, if you're local and in need of some last minute gifts you can shop the Thriftophile Pop-Up at the Rabbit Barn December 20-22. Be sure to "like" the Facebook page using the link and RSVP to get 15% off your purchase. If you aren't local and are looking for something in particular you can make inquiries via e-mail.
You've seen the vintage Merrimac hat before. It was part of my Halloween costume. I acquired it just minutes before the last photo was taken and so far photos simply do not do it justice. It's simply stunning and just a little ostentatious. I can't wait to wear it and the collar again.
