Marcus Whitney: Creative Power Hour Podcast

Before COVID-19 made us all keep our distance I had the honor of being interviewed by Marcus Whitney for his Creative Power Hour podcast

If you’ve never heard of Marcus Whitney you’re missing out. He’s a self-made badass. A college dropout who moved to Nashville waiting tables and has gone on to become a partner at Emma Email Marketing, co-founder of Jumpstart Health Investors and Nashville Soccer Club. Marcus has written a fantastic book called Create and Orchestrate about his story and long with advice for successful entrepreneurial strategies. It’s #1 on Amazon and I’m reading it now.

I’ve never done anything like this podcast episode. I’m used to answering questions about Fashion is for Every Body and Spashionista, but the Creative Power Hour is more about the person being interviewed than their projects. This is the first time that I have been able to be open about my experiences growing up with a disability in the age of institutionalization, surviving in an abusive household and overcoming multiple date-rapes.

I never intended for the interview to get so dark, but I decided it was time to stop glossing over the ugly truths that are part of my past. My abusers are no longer living so I can speak without fear of any repercussions. And I thought it might help someone, somewhere, who has struggled because of their disability or their family life.

At any rate, my cards are now on the table. Give it a listen if you’re curious.
