Union Jacked Up
This week's outfit post is in keeping with the boot theme I was discussing last week. It's also a clever way to tie into the latest 52-pick-me-up: United Nations.
Yesterday the oppressive heat we've been experiencing finally broke and it was a grand day to go forth and enjoy the change. I got a much needed haircut and added a touch of fuchsia to my signature purple side streaks. After that it was off to Target to have a peek at the Phillip Lim capsule collection. I almost bought a sweatshirt, but I honestly didn't think it was a great cut for my figure so I passed. I did take a minute to pose with one of the art guitars at Nashville West. These are scattered around the city and I try to include them in my pictures whenever I can because they are fast becoming iconic landmarks.
My outfit is deliberately red, white and blue. The skirt is my Max Studio summer staple white eyelet pencil skirt. The little red cowl-drape top is Cable and Gauge Petite. It's such a lovely top that I invariably forget that it drapes a little too much, invariably causing a "wardrobe malfunction". I'm still stubbornly searching for a way around this little (okay, not so little) problem. In this case the effects are somewhat mitigated by a Baccini denim boyfriend jacket. What can be more American than a denim jacket? As the heat had abated I was thrilled to break out my Union Jack Wanted boots from Shi. I tried on a few hats for good measure as well. I do love a good cloche and am considering securing one for the colder weather ahead.
