Throwback To Paris Vintage Fashion Show
It's no secret that my wardrobe is pretty much an everyday runway show for Pura Vida Vintage. So it came as no surprise to find out that owner/curator Krystle Ramos' impeccable fashion sense is sought after by more than just yours truly.
Last month Ramos was contacted by Jade Daniels, the president of Mirror Mirror Models, to be the featured designer for a show hosted by Tennessee State University. Mirror Mirror recruits college age models and talent - most of whom attend TSU - and help them develop promotional modeling and performance skills. Eager to help mentor and foster the creativity of both the models involved and design students at TSU, Ramos accepted.
The show was called Throwback to Paris, and given the recent terror attacks, began with a moment of silence out of respect for those whose lives were forever changed by the violence. Pura Vida Vintage showed a collection of vintage dresses and outerwear inspired by Paris in the 1950's. Sweet Tea Bridal, which is also owned by Ramos, also showcased it's finest vintage gowns. Both segments included headpieces by Nashville's very own Sunnyband. With the help of production assistants Monet Kittrell and Ripley Ramos, front-of-house producer Tye Ramos, and additional models from Tribe, B3sos, and independents, both runways were triumphant nods to the City of Love. They were also a testament to what happens when a focused successful businessperson like Ramos shares her talents with the creative fashion community of Nashville.
I was there for both the rehearsal and final runway shows. I've included some behind-the-scenes shots to give you a sense of the flurry of activity required to pull off something of this magnitude. I have tons of respect for people like Ramos and Nashville Fashion Week who consistently produce successful runway shows. Someday I hope to be able to do the same; sooner than you think.
Oh, in case you were wondering, I wore a vintage '90's velvet dress from Pura Vida Vintage and my Llynda More Boots to the show.
