Accessories As Art Preview
The countdown to Nashville Fashion Week continues. It's my job to share the events and talented creatives that will take over downtown Nashville for the majority of next week. But I'm dying to start talking about my take on NFW as well. After all, we're only nine days away from Opening Night - I know you're all clicking on the links in my posts and the graphic on the sidebar to get me a seat at the events, right? Please take a second to do so if you haven't already.
So let's get to it. Instead of a week's worth of runway shows NFW 2015 will feature a variety of events. The Accessories as Art Installation will feature local accessory brands in an artistic exhibit by Amos Gott of Amos Events at The Cordelle. Seven Nashville designers and makers - Bone Feather, Seraphine Design, Fanny & June, Margaret Ellis Jewelry, Peter Nappi, RINjuel and Shutter & Shuttles - will showcase collections on Wednesday, April 8.
It just so happens that I know several of these artisans, including McLaine and Brooke. I can tell you that they deserve every bit of the acclaim they're receiving, and I'm really looking forward to seeing how their pieces are displayed for the event.
Nashville Fashion Week's first accessory-focused event follows the announcement of handbag designer Ceri Hoover as the 2014 Nashville Fashion Forward Fund recipient. I've created Pinterest boards for every designer that will be showing during NFW. Watch the Spashionista Facebook and Twitter feeds for links. I'll be releasing them all week long, as well as details for the rest of Fashion Week's schedule.
Speaking of teasers, how about a sneak peek at some of the beautiful clothes I'm planning to wear during the week? Last year I really had to wing it. I had no idea what to wear or where to get anything truly cool in this town yet. This year is a very different story. As I've gotten to know Nashville's shops and artisans they've gotten to know me. Between their input and my tweaks we've come up with some outfits from local collections and boutiques that are very me. Here's a hint; vintage can be just as cool as au courant. Look for those on the feed in the coming week, too.
