Boundless 2018

Tickets for Boundless 2018, Nashville's only truly inclusive fashion runway show, are officially on sale! This event is the culmination of everything I work for as Executive Director of Fashion is for Every Body. C'mon out and celebrate the Transformative Power of Fashion with me. I promise you'll have a great time! I also had the privilege of being interviewed by Kristen Chapman Gibbons on abrasive Media's blog about what inspired my interest in fashion, where it's taken me and why I want everyone to experience the gift it has given me. It's a far cry from the curated li(f)e that bloggers are encouraged to represent.

PATTI + RICKY is an online shopping experience that offers stylish and functional designer products for individuals with disabilities. I was sent this gorgeous Rain Cape in Electric Houndstooth by Cleverhood to review. Initially used by cyclists this piece's design makes it ideal for use with many mobility aides.

Life at 57

I was recently invited by Chico's, White House Black Market and Soma to celebrate their partnership with Habitat for Humanity at a party in their Green Hills store. I also got to work on an actual Habitat for Humanity house, too. It meant a lot to me to help put the finishing touches on someone else's hard earned, well deserved home.

Liftware Level

One of the biggest problems people with certain spinal cord injuries and some forms of Cerebral Palsy, among other disabilities, face is keeping their meals off of their clothes. If your arms and hands are weak or unsteady it can be difficult to maneuver a fork or spoonful of food from the plate into your mouth without at least some of it dripping or dropping on your outfit. Enter Liftware Level, a self-leveling utensil base that keeps the spoon or fork attachment horizontal.

How I Spent My Summer Vacation

Vacation may be the wrong word because I don't feel very rested. I spent the majority of my Summer working on Fashion is for Every Body/Empower Tennessee's Boundless fashion show, which took place on September 9th. I've been doing some styling and consulting about the future of diversity in fashion. Non-sample-sized and those with disabilities, there's hope. I even got to talk a little bit about my whole journey into fashion-awareness on WSM radio, which broadcasts right out of the Opryland Hotel.

Boundless

Remember Fashion is for Every Body's runway show last year? Well, it's back in a bigger, better, even more inclusive iteration called Boundless. This year, Fashion is for Every Body is partnering with Empower Tennessee, a local organization promote opportunities for people with disabilities to strive for greater independence, to produce the show. Pre-sale, discounted tickets are available for a limited time. One of our models used the confidence she gained from being a part of Fashion is for Every Body to speak out against a social injustice at her own high school. Read Ashley's story in her own words.

Fashion Is For Every Body: We Did It

If you're reading this you probably know that I spend a lot of my time swimming upstream and contradicting stereotypes. I've been called fiesty, firey, bitchy, stubborn, ballsy, badass, leader and queen (among other things). Last week I got to add co-founder, co-producer and runway model for Nashville's first inclusive fashion show to the mix.

ALTER UR EGO Jeans

The story behind Kentucky-based brand ALTER UR EGO is as remarkable as the jeans themselves. Designer Heidi McKenzie is a paraplegic who got tired of the lack of fashionable jean options for the wheelchair-dependent. The best thing about ALTER UR EGO jeans is they will be on the runway at the Fashion is for Every Body show. That's right, adaptive fashion will be right there in the mix with Nashville's designer clothing.
