Christmas Village
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Ev'rywhere you go;
Take a look in the five-and-ten, glistening once again
With candy canes and silver lanes aglow.
Of course, there are no five-and-tens anymore. The modern equivalent is the flea market, which is where the Christmas Village is held every year. It was an insane frenzy; a madhouse of people. But it was also festive, and cheerful, filled with decorations, ornaments, trinkets and treasures.
There were all manner of fashionable prints, planners, cards and other stationary goods by the very talented Brittany Fuson. Surname snowmen, stocking hooks, and wooden wreaths were very popular, as were handmade woolen coats and hats. Sweetpeas sold dog collars and tags, and Mistletoe Memories personalized ornaments. My friend Sunny was there, selling her holiday Sunnybands. They were so popular she sold out and had to make more before the weekend was over.
It was very cold that day so I wore my Jessica Simpson wool coat with faux fur collar, and the pink suede Converse high-tops are also fleece-lined. Not a colorful outfit by any means, so I tried on a few Sunnybands to liven things up a bit. I nearly bought the one in the last picture, but instead I chose something for my tree.
This year these are my presents; my Christmas dinner guests. This will be Sasha's last Christmas, so I want to enjoy her company - and feed her a little Christmas ham.
I wish you all the happiest of holidays. Enjoy those that show you the kind of love you deserve, and give them their due in return.
