Best Looks From NFW Opening Night
By now I hope I've conveyed a sense of what it was like for me to attend Nashville Fashion Week 2014. It's time to shift the focus to the actual fashions that walked the runway. I've found some good quality images of some of the looks I saw that night and created a Pinterest board called Nashville Fashion Week 2014. I thought it might be fun to post a few here and discuss whether or not you would wear them.

I really liked this collection. It's colorful without being immature and would work well for older ladies as well as curvy girls. It may be a bit voluminous for manual wheelchair users.

The collection was a bit austere but certainly didn't lack for elegance. Mature without being dowdy, the aesthetic may be too boxy for fuller figures.

Some lovely pieces here but there were a few fit issues. The coat reads much better in person than it does in the photograph. The overall collection is very "bombshell" - which I love - but most styles are mid-calf and not for curvy or petite proportions.

Silver is a local designer whose collection included everything from gold llame overalls to scarf-necked knits. Her designs are beautiful but many skew too young for the 40+ crowd. The majority of her clothes are wheelchair friendly.
The stunning necklaces you see are also by local artisan Seraphine Design, whom I will be interviewing in the near future.

This collection seemed to be the hit of the evening. Because I got to wear full-on Boho when it was popular the first time around I have to admit I was underwhelmed. It reminded me a lot of some of the costumes on Game of Thrones. It's far too billowy for wheelchairs and reads pretty young for the 40+ crowd. Having said that, I can see the appeal for younger fashionistas.

The top look was one of my favorites for the evening. I could easily see it with a cami underneath on an older lady, and that skirt is a dream for those of us with curves. This collection would flatter most women and the tailoring was immaculate.

Pink Elephants was a perfect balance between whimsy and elegance. This is a sophisticated alternative to gypsy couture. This line definitely has pieces I would wear that are fine if you're an older woman and is also very wheelchair-friendly.

This is the "Every Woman" collection. Sleek and edgy with lots of black and attention to detail; there are pieces here for anyone. The red gown alone is a great dress for many ages and shapes. I would wear it in a New York minute.
