Toyos Eye Clinic
Anyone that wears glasses knows they are your most prominent accessory. Shouldn't they be as much a fashion statement as everything else you wear?
Several weeks ago I attended the grand opening of Toyos Eye Clinic's Green Hills location. Guests were treated to sumptuous bites from The Chef and I and a fashion show featuring some gorgeous, high-end frames. You'll find eyewear from Salvatore Ferragamo, Kate Spade, Tory Burch, Lafont, Michael Kors, Tom Ford, Ray Ban, Sean John, Polo, and Lacoste. They are also the only optical to carry Dragon and Shamballa. I'm sporting the latter in my upper photo, and posing with the lovely Dr Melissa Toyos in the bottom picture.
The clinic specializes in vision, optical and facial cosmetic surgery services. They are pioneers in research, having won countless awards and grants, and employ a research team to conduct FDA and non-FDA studies. Students of optometry and ophthalmology come to Toyos to learn technology and techniques that are being utilized by eye doctors throughout the world.
What really made me want to share their story with you is their dedication to the patient as a person. I was very impressed with the work Toyos does to ensure people, locally and worldwide, have access to quality care.
"Toyos Clinic believes in giving back to the community financially and with the donation of time. The clinic has donated over a 1,000,000 dollars in money, services, and care. No uninsured patient is turned away because they do not have the ability to pay. Toyos Clinic proudly accepts Tenncare, Medicare, and Medicaid. The practice also participates in the American Academy of Ophthalmology program for the uninsured called the Eye Care America project where uninsured patients that need care can come to the clinic and receive free exams.
"The clinic has done many mission trips with the help of churches, professional sports teams, and community organizations. [They have] partnered with local schools to provide lectures and financial support... The clinic has received various community service awards including a Humanitarian Award, Business Partner Award, and the Ronald Reagan Award."
I salute businesses like this that choose to truly be an asset to their community and make a difference, because it is the right thing to do. If you find yourself in need of any of the services the clinic offers I encourage you to visit their website to see if there is a location near you.
