Italian Style At The Frist

Do you know what a fashgasm is? I'm about to show you what it looks like.

These photos are from the Italian Style: Fashion Since 1945 exhibit currently on display at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts here in Nashville. Assembled from more than 40 collections the exhibit covers everything from the Florentine Sala Bianca to the Roman filmmaking era and the modern fashion capitol of Milan. There are no weak pieces here; not one. Despite fascist restrictions and wartime austerity there is a joyousness in these garments that celebrate the male and female form with color, pattern, texture and flawless fit.

From Gucci to Pucci, Ferragamo to Fendi, Armani to Versace, Brioni suits and Bulgari jewels. Elizabeth Taylor wore Valentino; Lee Radziwill, Mila Schon. Italian fashion was synonymous with jet-setter-chic - and still is. It's also sexy, sexy, sexy without being the slightest bit vulgar. There were a few swoon-worthy moments during the media tour.

If you want to see them - and you should - get to the Frist's Ingram Gallery between now and September 7th. Chances are good you'll see me there again.

I'm wearing a vintage 1960's The Jones Girl shirtdress from Pura Vida Vintage, a lace jacket from Marshalls, and Patrizia wedge sandals .
