Connie Richardson, co-founder of Nashville Fashion Week, often reminds us that, "Nashville Fashion is more than just a week." So, before I show you any more of NFW2016 (and there are still scores of looks from gifted designers to peruse) I want you to see the kind of talent coming from Nashville's prestigious O'More college of design. This year they held their annual fashion show in a hanger at John C Tune airport - on my birthday. Talk about a party.
Read MoreNashville Fashion is more than just a week. It's a daily celebration of our city and the designers that create and show here. I'm going to spend the Summer showing off Nashville's fashion shows and events - and, hopefully convincing you to help me make my own inclusive fashion show a reality this Fall. Today I'm featuring opening night of Nashville Fashion Week: East Meets West, with designers from London, Georgia, Missouri and New York
Read MoreTalent is not diluted by circumstances or eclipsed by someone else's shadow. It endures, waiting for the right moment to emerge again - because, of course, it never left. For Manny Cuevas that moment is back on the horizon. He will soon be re-launching his label, Wear It Out by Manny, with a fresh take on iconic wardrobe staples all with his trademark style. I've seen the sketches and the pieces are undeniably chic, yet retain that edginess so prevalent in the editorial runway lines.
Read MoreI wasn't going to write about David Bowie. Not here, anyway; I figured it would just be overkill. There comes a point where too much attention, too much emotion is desensitizing. But there are tangible reasons why so many were moved by his passing. Read MoreIt's been a little over three years since I started writing spashionista.com. Within that period of time the fashion-bloggersphere has expanded exponentially. That's not necessarily a good thing. Often bloggers get so caught up with the trendy, upscale aspects of fashion that they end up being exclusionists. It can be difficult to stay true to your message, especially if it garners a niche following that doesn't necessarily bring in the big numbers. I want to foster and empower every woman reading Spashionista to be confident in their beauty and exude their own sense of style. Because fashion is for every body.
