Pattern Mixing: Make My Day

This week's outfit post is brought to you by an undercaffienated, happy accident.

This is what I threw together in anticipation of my annual physical. As most of you know you have to fast for at least six hours before your exam so I was really looking for easy on, easy off. The Mushka by Sienna Rose blouse is several years old from Stein Mart. It was in my annual "edit-worthy" pile and I deemed this the perfect time to give it one last try before sending it off to consignment heaven.  I paired it with my trusty Nine West denim and a pair of older brown oxfords by Not Rated - courtesy of Shi, of course. On my way out the door I had a thought. The Ikat scarf from last week's Ikat Figure This Scarf Thing Out and the top shared a similar color palette. On a whim I looped it around my neck and voila! Pattern mixing at it's finest! I may actually keep the top. I'm considering having it shortened. What do you think?

Finally, you'll notice a lovely little purple flower petal ring on my right hand. I purchased it at the Flip Flop consignment shop when I visited with blogger friend Megan for their special event. The chaos behind me is the grand opening of H&M at Opry Mills. Initially I was going to pass on the event but my better half talked me into going. The photo doesn't even begin to demonstrate how packed the place was. Customers camped out at 1am the night before and waited for the doors to open at noon. All the local news outlets were there and the checkout line was at least 100 people deep. It was surreal.

I didn't buy anything there, but I did make a purchase elsewhere. I'll share it with you soon. It's one of those I wanted so badly to work out I was crushed when it didn't.

But I'm not ending this week's post on a down note. This morning I stepped on the scale - just for the hell of it - and I've lost 5 lbs! Please picture a happy palsy dance in your heads because that's what I'm doing.

Then I saw this:

Matthew is my beloved friend who manages the Shi shoe store in Franklin. The young lady who wrote this made my day. Can it get any better than this?

I'm a happy girl today.
